Graduate Heritage Consultant
Andie Coulson is a heritage consultant and archaeologist.
She holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts, majoring in archaeology, ancient history and geography, from the University of Sydney.
Andie has skills in archaeological fieldwork, digitisation, and post-excavation data organisation, storage and retrieval. She has experience in the excavation and survey of historical archaeological sites in Sydney, including ground-penetrating radar, data recording, and site mapping and photography.
Prior to joining GML, Andie worked as a subcontractor archaeologist on excavations of early colonial sites. This helped her gain experience in excavation, wet sieving, and artefact washing and sorting. She also volunteered as a team leader for the Australian Archaeological Institute in Athens’ Zagora Project, where she trained and led a group of student volunteers in digitising, compiling and synthesising archival data. She was also responsible for creating physical and digital excavation records.
Andie has also completed a photogrammetry course at the University of Sydney. This has helped her build skills in photographing objects and sites, as well as developing models using the Agisoft Metashape program.
‘History has the power to both excite and educate. Archaeology, historical research, and engagement with communities and knowledge holders help us to better understand and share the stories of places.’
