Minnamurra Rainforest, Budderoo National Park, NSW

The Minnamurra Rainforest Centre (MRC) is located at the base of the Illawarra Escarpment near Jamberoo on the South Coast of NSW.

Minnamurra Falls is a much loved place within Budderoo National Park. GML Heritage contributed to the Interpretation Strategy with Trigger and Chee Lam Design, to develop interpretation services through innovative storytelling on behalf of National Parks and Wildlife Services.

GML developed a thematic history and engaged with the community to identify the significance of the place and inform the interpretive approach. We facilitated workshops with Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council, NPWS staff, local stakeholders and Kiama Municipal Council.

Following deep reflection, research and consultation, GML developed a new vision for the place:

….an ancient living landscape that enchants and endures.

Understanding connections, identifying unique perspectives and getting to the heart of cultural sensitivities was a key focus of our work.

The Interpretation Strategy delivers a rich and engaging opportunity to immerse visitors in the natural and cultural landscape.
