The opportunity
GML is seeking a full-time Senior Heritage Consultant/Archaeologist (Aboriginal Archaeology) to work in our Canberra office. You will join a collaborative team working on a wide variety of projects in both Aboriginal and historical archaeology and across the full spectrum of heritage consultancy.
To support those considering a move to Canberra, we’re offering a $5,000 relocation package for candidates who relocate for this role.
You will be required to:
- Plan, manage and deliver a range of projects including archaeological assessments, due diligence, site inspections, fieldwork, management plans and impact statements.
- Undertake research and GIS mapping.
- Manage stakeholder consultation and build strong client relationships.
- Contribute to proposals, tenders and cross-disciplinary project delivery.
- Mentor and collaborate with team members.
About you
You bring:
- Honours degree (or equivalent) in Archaeology or closely related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a heritage consultancy environment.
- Experience in Aboriginal archaeology and community consultation is essential–experience in historical archaeology is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality client advice, reports and budgets.
- Project and team management experience, including budget management and client liaison.
- Passion for archaeology, cultural heritage and working collaboratively with Traditional Owner and Aboriginal organisations.
- Flexibility to travel and undertake periodic fieldwork.
- Strong understanding of, or the ability to learn, Commonwealth and ACT regulatory frameworks.
- GIS mapping skills.
- Unrestricted Australian driver’s license, Construction “White Card” and first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain after appointment).
