Edendale Conservation Management and Master Plans
Edendale is a Community Environment Centre in the north-east of Melbourne. Significant heritage features include an historic homestead and garden, a rural setting and character and a regionally significant sculpture.
The Conservation Management Plan provided practical strategies to conserve the significance of the place. These strategies were ultimately incorporated in the Master Plan for the site also developed by Context, working with urban design firms Urban Initiative and Sinclair Knight Merz.
The Plan tackled diverse challenges including managing circulation and access, attracting more people to the place, diversifying and strengthening the environmental messages and the governance and staffing structures necessary to deliver the Plan.
The Plan was developed in consultation with a Project Advisory Group, and with input from Edendale and Council staff, Edendale volunteers and the wider community.
