Richard Spencer
Heritage Consultant

Richard Spencer is a heritage consultant with a background in historical and Aboriginal archaeology.

He holds a Bachelor of Archaeology from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Lampeter.

Prior to joining GML Richard worked as a freelance archaeologist on multiple Aboriginal and historical archaeological excavations across NSW. During this time he helped supervise full scale excavations and also worked with members of the Aboriginal community in remote areas with test pitting and land surveying. Richard has also taken part in many research archaeology excavations and fieldwork across the UK, including on Bronze Age barrows and Anglo-Saxon graveyards.

Through his tertiary studies and industry experience Richard has developed his skills in post-excavation assessments and cataloguing. He has been trained in excavation and recording techniques and has particular training in lithics, ceramic identification and soil formation.

Richard has extensive knowledge in mapping sites, plotting trenches and creating topographical maps and has been introduced to geophysical surveying.
