Senior Heritage Consultant, GIS and Geospatial Specialist
Brian Shanahan, GML Senior Heritage Consultant, is a heritage consultant and archaeologist with over 20 years’ experience. He has extensive experience as an archaeologist, site supervisor and heritage consultant in NSW, Victoria and overseas.
Brian is an expert in GIS mapping, specialising in the use of historic maps, geophysical, topographic and photogrammetry surveys to visualise and create 3D models of historic landscapes. He is also experienced in landscape and aerial archaeology.
Brian has worked on and led projects ranging from large urban excavations in Melbourne and Parramatta through to medieval and Iron Age sites in rural Ireland. He is skilled in surveying and analysing complex earthworks sites, landscapes and buildings, as well as research, data compilation and report writing for excavations and environmental impact assessments.
Brian is also an active researcher and has considerable teaching and lecturing experience.
