We won’t be celebrating Australia Day on January 26

This year we are encouraging our employees to celebrate the Australia Day holiday on a different date.

Australia Day is meant to be a national celebration, a day when all Australians can reflect on what makes them proud to be Australian. Yet for the majority of Indigenous Australians, and many non-Indigenous Australians, 26 January is not a day to celebrate—it marks the beginning of British invasion and the survival of violence and trauma caused by colonisation.

Across the company, we advocate truth-telling and recognise and respect the strength and resilience of Australia’s First Nations people. As allies, colleagues and friends, we stand by and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are dedicated to amplifying and elevating First Nations voices and strongly support learning and unlearning. We speak up and take action on issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
