Canberra from the sky

Rachel Jackson Presents at Palm Springs

GML Principal, Rachel Jackson, is taking Canberra to California for Palm Springs Modernism Week.

Rachel (who is also Co- Creative Director and Founder of Canberra Modern), is presenting a 1-hour session on 18 February 2020, about the development of Australia’s national capital, one of the world’s greatest planned twentieth century cities.

The rich architectural legacy of Canberra—particularly the mid-century period of development—has not been widely celebrated or recognised, and many buildings have been lost or are under threat. In her ‘Canberra Modern’ presentation, Rachel will discuss the unlikely similarities between Palm Springs and Canberra and track the journey of Canberra’s development into a planned city that is like nowhere elsewhere in Australia.

If you happen to be in the USA, make sure you book your tickets and enjoy all that Modernism Week has to offer!
