National Reconciliation Week 2022

We recognise the bravery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Their tolerance and resilience inspires us.

This Reconciliation Week at GML Heritage the theme, ‘Be Brave, Make Change’ means we have identified how through working in heritage we can be bolder in our actions towards achieving reconciliation.

We are fortunate to have two First Nations people on our team—Graduate Consultant, Drew Kennedy (a Wiradjuri woman) and Consultant, Leah Hunt (a Jadawadjali, Gunditj-mera, Wemba Wemba, Wergaia, Bindjali, Ngargad woman from western Victoria).  Both Leah and Drew have generously shared insights about their lived experience and their work as heritage consultants in these videos.

We are encouraging our team to mark Reconciliation Week. Many of our Melbourne team visited the remarkable ‘Emu Sky Exhibition’ at the University of Melbourne. GML’s Leah Hunt contributed to the exhibition. Others are attending The First Nations Speaker Series with Dennis Golding (tickets are still available) or the theatrical event, ‘The Return’ at the Malthouse Theatre.
