Sydney Living Museums invited women residents in NSW to create artworks reflecting any aspect of life at Meroogal, a charming historic house in Nowra that was home to four generations of women.

Good art tells stories and captivates us through imaginative perspectives. It is so inspiring to see the creativity of women flourishing and generously supported by cultural institutions in NSW. The usual entry fee for the Meroogal Women’s Art Prize was waived this year to encourage and support women.

Congratulations to the winners, Sarah Goffman for “Blue willow”, Sassy Park for “Garden play set” and Julie Paterson for “A dozen modern fancies”.

Sharon Veale, GML CEO was one of this year’s judges alongside Bronwyn Coulston, Unit Manager – Arts & Culture, Shoalhaven City Council, Deborah Ely AM, CEO, Bundanon Trust and Anne Ferran, visual artist.

An exhibition of selected work will be on display in the house and grounds at Meroogal from 19 September to 17 April 2021. Perhaps if you are planning a weekend getaway to the NSW South Coast, you might like including Meroogal in your itinerary?
