Heritage NSW now regulating Aboriginal Cultural Heritage

From 1 July 2020 the Aboriginal cultural heritage regulatory functions under the National Parks and Wildlife (NPW) Act 1974 moved to Heritage NSW.

This means that the regulation of Aboriginal Objects and Aboriginal Places, including Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permits (AHIPs), care agreements, Registered Aboriginal Parties is now administered and regulated from Heritage NSW.  This move centralised the heritage functions under both the NPW Act and the Heritage Act in one department and should better support and assist Aboriginal communities, proponents and others with heritage matters. For further information see Heritage NSW.
