Heritage Advice, Due Diligence Assessment, Archaeological Assessment, Heritage Impact StatementClient:
Mirvac and AMP
From 2012–2014, GML was engaged by Mirvac and AMP to provide heritage and archaeological advice regarding the redevelopment of the Amatil building at 71 Macquarie Street, Circular Quay East, into a new mixed-use multi-storey building.
While the Amatil building itself is not a heritage item, its site is affected by a number of highly sensitive heritage issues—particularly the visual curtilage of the World Heritage listed Sydney Opera House. GML provided strategic advice to Mirvac and AMP to ensure that heritage impacts on the Sydney Opera House were avoided. GML also provided input for the management of historical archaeology at the site, including the Bennelong Stormwater Channel. This advice, and subsequent Heritage Impact Statement, Archaeological Assessment and Aboriginal Heritage Due Diligence reports for the Development Application, facilitated approval of the project.
