Due Diligence and Heritage Impact StatementClient:
In 2011 GML Heritage was engaged to provide due diligence heritage advice about the heritage status of the ANZ Bank building at 20 Martin Place, Sydney, and advise on the heritage constraints of the site and its context.
The proposed redevelopment involved re-cladding the existing building, reconfiguring the service core to meet current energy efficiency standards, and activating the street level to improve the building’s functionality and its general aesthetic quality.
GML utilised a staged approach to address the heritage issues which included the initial due diligence phase followed by a Heritage Impact Statement to accompany the development application to the City of Sydney Council. This approach of upfront advice, followed by a formal assessment of impacts, informed the development team of the heritage constraints and opportunities of the site, and streamlined the development approval process from the start of the project.
