200 George Street, Sydney, Heritage Interpretation

Project Type:

Heritage Interpretation Strategy, Content Development, Concept Designs

Client:

Mirvac

LGA: Sydney

GML was engaged by Mirvac to develop and implement an Interpretation Plan for the 200 George Street site in Sydney’s CBD. Having successfully undertaken a wide range of heritage services during 2012, GML was well-placed to produce a well-informed and innovative range of interpretive tools.

Heritage interpretation allowed for a considered approach to presentation of the site’s significance and archaeological evidence. A number of key historical themes were identified, and a number of methods were devised to engage with a variety of audiences across both physical and digital platforms. This work provided a sound basis for planning of the interpretation for the site, and its integration into the design of the proposed development.

Following archaeological investigations, engaging and informative content was developed which drew on the rich documentary and archaeological sources. Working with the client and project architects, GML assisted with the concept design including artefact displays, large scale artwork, ground inlays and web content.
