Don Godden
Special Adviser

Don Godden, retired founding Partner of GML Heritage, is a specialist industrial archaeologist who has written, consulted and taught about industrial heritage for more than 30 years. He continues to work for GML as a special adviser on industrial heritage projects and was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2018.

Since the 1980s, Don has served as Chair and member of the Technical Advisory Group of the Heritage Council of NSW and the Industrial Heritage Committee of the National Trust of Australia (NSW). He is a current member and former alternate member of the Heritage Council of NSW as well as the Vice President of the National Trust of Australia (NSW).

Don has also chaired heritage advisory committees of NSW statutory authorities, including the State Rail Authority, Sydney Water and the Roads and Traffic Authority. He is a renowned international expert in industrial heritage and conservation, with a specialist interest in Australian industrial sites, machinery, plant and industrial infrastructure.
