David Logan is a founding partner of GML Heritage. He has qualifications in architecture, heritage conservation and town planning and more than 30 years’ experience in heritage management in both the public and private sectors. David specialises in heritage-related masterplanning and, CBD development projects, design review and the resolution of urban planning issues. He has led teams and been involved in a wide range of development and urban renewal projects across Australia.

David is a member of the NSW State Design Review Panel, the Parramatta Design Excellence Advisory Panel and the Local Planning Panels of Strathfield, Hunters Hill and North Sydney councils. He was an appointed member of the Heritage Council of NSW from 2005 until 2013 and chaired the Council’s Approvals Committee as well as its Policy Committee. He is currently the Chair of the Heritage Council’s Technical Advisory Panel. He is a former Vice President of Australia ICOMOS, and has been involved in the drafting of the Burra Charter.

David’s overseas work has included World Heritage monitoring missions and advice for ICOMOS, UNESCO and the World Heritage Committee, workshop facilitation for the Getty Conservation Institute and various lecturing and training roles. David is an accredited trainer and facilitator in heritage management and is an independent ‘heritage expert’, recognised by government and the courts. In previous roles before joining GML, David directed the conservation program in The Rocks, Sydney, and was head of the City of Sydney’s Development Assessment Unit.
